Description
Rückseite: "Troia jacet ce[n]to danais [invi]sa puellis."; gelbe konzentrische Kreise
- Large plate, badly damaged. Fire crack at bottom. Battle scene before burning Troy. Urbino, c. 1545-55, in the manner of but not necessarily made in, the Fontana workshop. Inscribed in blue Troia jacet ce[n]to danais [invi]sa puellis – blaming Greek women for the Fall of Troy?! This seems to scan as a Latin line of verse
